The Roper Laboratory at Florida State University focuses on developing new analytical methods and techniques to investigate biological signaling. Our primary research interest is understanding how the secretion of peptides and small molecules from islets of Langerhans contributes to glucose regulation in the body making our research particularly relevant to metabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes.
We use advanced techniques such as high-speed separations, mass spectrometry, and optical assays to measure these components with high sensitivity and temporal resolution. In addition, we develop microfluidic devices to create highly integrated systems which enable many of our studies.
Check out this video for a description of some of our work.
